Entering Priorities
uni-assist has developed a coordination process contributing towards a faster and more transparent allocation of university places. This is why uni-assist needs to provide a priority list, where you prioritise all study preferences.
Priorities:
- can be changed at any time;
- are treated confidentially and are not forwarded to universities in any manner related to an individual;
- do not influence the universities' admission decision in any way.
What the priorities are used for:
The universities compile ranking lists according to which they will admit candidates. On the basis of these ranking lists and of all priorities, uni-assist calculates the probability with which the university places offered are being accepted by applicants. This prognosis enables the universities to become aware of university places possibly remaining vacant well ahead of time and to offer these to other applicants.
Advantages of Prioritisation
Advantages of Time – Altogether, you can expect to receive university place offers earlier.
Transparency – You can access the universities' prognoses regarding the admission procedure, provided the universities enter this information into the system.
Clearing – After the coordination procedure, you may be able to participate in the clearing process and thus are given a second chance to obtain a university place.

How to proceed:
- If you are applying for several universities, please also give your preference regarding each chosen course of study in the priority list in addition to the respective application forms.
- If you are going to apply by paper sent by mail, you can print out the form Priority List and either fill it in or enter your preferences online via your own account. (Simply register online and call up your own account.)
- If you apply online, you will have to enter your preferences electronically. After login, go to „Application” in the menu.
- Create your own "hitlist" by sorting all of your applications from top to bottom using the green arrows: your most preferred course of study should be at the top.
- If you are able to choose more than one course for the same university, then the following rule applies: the first course (main course application) always has priority over the second course (minor course application) for that university.
- Please list all study preferences within the printed form, even if some universities do not participate in the uni-assist procedure.
Please note: The priority list is no substitute for an application form. Please use the form only for study preferences you have entered also in a separate application form.
